Gooooooood Morning Blogosphere!
Today's post is a kind of public service announcement about Tires.
Mr. Ramblings did buy a "newsed"- that's a new to us, used car to replace the vehicle that was totaled in November, because people drive like idiots on the freeway , thus causing multiple car wrecks.
People! Your driver's manual does NOT say to drive 1 foot from the bumper of the car in front of you @ high speeds on the freeway! The golden rule of driving is you can NOT drive faster than the car in front of you.
Anyway, the used car he bought has 2 new tires on it, and is in need of 2 new tires.
I remembered seeing the following news magazine piece about a cryptic code on tires-- that tells you the age of the tires. Bottom line is tires loose their umph & elasticity after so many years, even of they are brand new, never-been-used tires. Tires should not be more than 6 or 7 years old.... but even major stores- like Sears & Goodyear had new tires on the shelves that exceeded the tire pull date.... by up to 12 years. Whoah!
These tires have the potential to literally fall apart while driving.
Check it out & pass it on to your friends too.
Knowledge is power & in this case, safety too.
