Happy New Year!

Welcome 2009

The True Meaning of Life

We are visitors on this planet.
We are here for ninety
or one hundred years
at the very most.
During that period,
we must try to do
something good,
something useful
with our lives.
If you contribute
to other people's happiness,
you will find the true goal,
the true meaning of life.

~His Holiness the XIVth Dalai Lama

Happy NY to the Ramblings!

So funny you mention 90-100 yrs. Today I was watching a documentary of the memories of centenarians. I notice many who live 100+ don't look or sound a day over 75-80. It's like they stop aging. Very sweet but kind of sad, too, especially the ones who'd outlived their own children ... "children" who'd lived full lives, but died in their 70-80's. The only common trait I could see is these people were all fully engaged with life.

His Holiness that made the reference.... probably referring to the wise Monks who live healthy lifestyles, eating brown rice & tea.

Best wishes for a new year~ by & by, trying to keep my spirits high.
