I like to think I am getting wiser....
but that is debatable.
Don't know what I'll do today, but it will include laziness, alcohol, and additional slacking.
Had a nice getaway to the Cascades earlier this week. Only problem with that is now I'm all relaxed & going back to work is less appealing.
Anyway-- here's to surviving yet another year. Woo Hoo!

happy birthday, sweetie! hope it was the first of many fabulous ones to come.
Thanks Nonnie~ If I forget future birthdays, can I stay younger???
Fran: Sorry I'm a day late for this. (Is there any cake left still?) It sounds like you took some time off beforehand & got to really enjoy this special time of year. Hope yesterday was a great day for you.
I've found it impossible to forget future birthdays (seems no matter how hard I try, "there is always something there to remind me")
But, BUT...speaking from the generation just ahead of you, so long as you have your health (care?) and can motivate each day after the sunrises without being reminded of age by your body creaking and aching, you'll always be a 22 year old kid in your head - if you want to be.
So while you may not be able to ignore 'em in the future, may you always stay "forever young!"
BTW, today (Monday) is Mrs. Dada's birthday, tomorrow one of our very best friends. What is it with these BD clusters like this? (We have 5 or 6 in the 4 days around my BD in July.)
Anyway, just remember: birthdays are to be celebrated the whole month! So have a great one the next 17 days.
(Now if you'll excuse me, I must get to the store for a BD card for Mrs. Dada before she wakes up.)
Happy Happy Happy B-day, Fran!
Really enjoyed the forgetful song, identified with storming into a room, full of purpose, only to forget the the purpose as soon as said room is entered! Carkeys in the fridge ... arghhh, I wish! ... I once threw mine out in the trash and wouldn't you know it, the garbage had already been picked up by the time I realized the darn keys were missing the next AM.
And Dada, here is a clue why there are so many freakin' Sept B-days ... just think back to what was usually going on 9-months earlier. Hint: alcohol was involved. At least that's what my Mom told me!
oops, blogger cut me off. well I only wanted to add a special shout out to a fellow virgo. Virgos Rock the Critical World!
Dada: Nice pic of you N Sam!
Cake's gone ~ sorry.
Had all labor day week off & headed for the mountains. The weather cooperated.
Life was good. The forest is a great environment.
I'd like to stay 22 in my head..... but those grinding bones tend to override the youthful thoughts in my head.
Happy B day to the Mrs.
Hope she is pampered & also celebrates for a month. = )
DK: I have done just that too.... headed into a room, then the stark reality.... what the hell was I going to do????
In our defense- we do a lot of multitasking, so we've overtaxed our brains right???
It's more a matter of juggling too many things, rather than just having the brain go to mush trying to remember one thing.
Well- that's my excuse & I'm sticking with it.
I am a double virgo, married to a virgo.
There is a whole lot of virgo energy @ our house.
Thanks for the good wishes!
Oh, and one more thing Fran: You're way too young to be relating to this memory video. (Was that a cruel reminder to us older folks??)
Actually, as I posted in a comment over on Menopause Moments last June 5th, I can RELATE to this Beatles take-off song, e.g.,
"Last eve as my wife and I were computer "Skype-ing" with our niece in Oregon, I excused myself to get a glass of wine. (No, it was to be my first.)
"Listening to their chat while in the kitchen trying unsuccessfully to uncork a previously opened bottle of Merlot, I finally resorted to the corkscrew, successfully extricating the stubborn cork.
"Yes, I was engrossed in what my wife and niece were saying, but not until I placed the recorked wine bottle back where I'd gotten it and proceeded to rejoin them did I realize how deeply I'd been attending what they were saying. (er, at least I HOPE that was it) For as I picked up my wine, I noticed the glass was just as dry as I'd gotten it from the shelf.
"Yes, I'd forgotten the most important part -- to poor the wine!"
Actually, that was my 3rd example over there of the golden age you now find yourself on the threshold of, Fran. (I decided I'd better quit posting 'em lest they put me away somewhere.)
Damn that was a really dry wine!!!!
Well-- at least you *noticed* the glass was empty eventually.... a true indication some brain cells are firing!
