excuse me, but do you mind revealing if your company imposes a hiring policy discrimating against those who have been convicted of a felonious criminal offense,
eh?
but ... give the caller points for honesty ... maybe they were not job hunters at all, but instead implying something about the current employees.
Not sure it is discrimination- some companies openly state they do not hire people with felony convictions. It is a published question on many job applications, so clearly asking that question is allowed/legal. Unlike asking if you have kids, or health problems is not legal.
If you run a business handling cash, credit card numbers, or entrust them to be around people's personal valuables, you have the right to not hire someone who has already committed a serious offense.
No, I did not expect the guy to ask me to pass the Grey Poupon Dijon mustard, while inquiring about hiring felons..... Just the twang in his voice, and the question came late on a Friday, kind of struck ma as a *just when I thought I'd heard it all.*
Over 1000 people applied for 60 job openings, and the employer themselves said that does allow them to cherry pick who they choose to hire.

I imagine having a felony conviction does not help with a job search, especially in hard times.
So was the proper way to phrase that question,
