the arrogance! reminded me of Leonna Helmsly ... only little people pay taxes.
they say the equivalent of an exxon valdez has spilled in the Nigerian Delta every day for the last 50 years ... probably a preview of how our gulf will look ...
Christopher~ What a mess. Although there is no telling if the Gulf will recover- I think the additions of chemicals-- the dispersant, and the drilling mud- which is also full of petroleum chemicals & other toxins are a worry. I did see a news report of one scene at a beach that looked ok, no visible oil or sheen-- the the reporter went into the shallow water (in wader boots) and took a swipe of the ocean floor... his white gloved hand came up covered in oil. That indicates the dispersant is causing the oil to "sink" rather than float-- smothering the ocean floor in oil means it will kill off the microscopic beginning of the food chain- causing a chain reaction. Double trouble if they are killed or become toxic.

How's that for a little reality check?
They later tried to excuse the comment by calling it a "language barrier".
What if we never successfully cap the gushing oil well 5,000 feet below the surface of the Gulf of Mexico?
Seriously, and I mean never?
Don't read this if you're feeling the least bit depressed.
