Our heads are not your billboards!

You hear that Nike, Gant, Converse All Star, Prada, Armani, Geoffrey Beene, Dolce & Gabbana, DKNY, and all you other eyeglass frame makers who think it's cool to plaster your company name & logo all over eyeglass frames.

People who wear glasses just want to see. We are not interested in becoming a billboard to advertise or flaunt your company name everyday.

I'm a little raw in the nerves of late. The husband is getting new prescription glasses. We want function, comfort & a little style. I feel like we've been through the wringer. Have sympathy for me. I have been to Eye Mart, Wal Mart, Costco. Went through the drill of each different wall of frames, and the rampant practice of what I consider to be a kind of bait & switch.
They have low low prices..... UNLESS you are in my family.
Our astigmatism prescriptions are super special, or should I say $uper $pecial?

We use progressive bifocals, strong prescription requires the switch to the poly carb (lighter lens). The next thing you know they are adding anti reflective coating, transitions lenses, and the price goes plus plus.
All those places that claim to be able to have lenses done in about an hour?

Nope.
We are more in the 2 to 3 week group.

He tries on 50 different frames in each of these different stores, & we have fun..... humming the Star Trek theme if they look Jordy like. Giving the *wrong* buzzer noise if they just flat out suck.
Of if they are decent, put them in the potential stack.
Gun metal grey & silver are out for a person w blonde hair.
Why in God's name do they still have 70's style aviator frames???

But we finally hit a few that were decent.... only to find they were slathered with some brand name.

My head is not your billboard, dammit!

i've been wearing glasses from walgreens. i paid 20 bucks for them, and i got another pair for free. i really should go to the eye doctor, since i haven't had my eyes checked in 7 years.

i completely agree with you about the brand names. it's really obnoxious when people buy things so that they can show off which designer made the damned thing.

Ouch, with all those special requirements, they should be engraving YOUR name on the glasses!

Our last Rx's came from LensCrafters. Even with "special discounts", they ran about $250-300 ea.

I put on some square frameless Sarah Palin ones & whipped around, bunching up my hair, to send EK screaming out into the mall. Did not go for them, even though they looked kinda cool ... in a drill baby way.

"Why do they still have '70's aviator glasses?" Because EK still wears them! Must be thinking he is still back the jungle?!?

I know I need to have my eyes checked. My glasses are almost ten years old and I only wear them when I need to.

I hate the super commercialization of everything too :)

DW ~ It's over the top!

Nonnie~ Lucky you you can get the cheapies.
No such luck here. Especially if we want to multitask- you know like both driving AND seeing!

DK ~ Ha ha! Ramblings designerwear. Never a logo!

Ooops-- no offense to EK. I was going through most every pair of glasses in the shop (because I can;t see when my glasses are off- was there for mare than an hour & an old guy comes in tries on 1 pair of aviator style glasses calls it good & he's done.

Anon I hope college has spelling class or spell check~ most helpful.

Lib~ 10 years is a stretch! I could not drive w/o glasses, so I have to keep mine current.
You just know those designer frames roll off the same mass produced lines the less expensive ones do too, save a hot glue gun for the occasional embellishment or goo gaw.

Or as my son put it, I'm not gonna be a whore for Nike. (the college band was plastered in all things nike.... shoes to caps- literally, head to toe. )
