Happy Prezzzident's Day

Ladies & Gentlemen, I did not make this stuff up. Quotes from the current President of the United States of America.

A dictatorship would be a heck of a lot easier, there's no question about it.
George W. Bush

America must not ignore the threat gathering against us. Facing clear evidence of peril, we cannot wait for the final proof, the smoking gun that could come in the form of a mushroom cloud.
George W. Bush

Free nations are peaceful nations. Free nations don't attack each other. Free nations don't develop weapons of mass destruction.
George W. Bush

I just want you to know that, when we talk about war, we're really talking about peace.
George W. Bush

Leadership to me means duty, honor, country. It means character, and it means listening from time to time.
George W. Bush

The legislature's job is to write law. It's the executive branch's job to interpret law.
George W. Bush

You can fool some of the people all the time, and those are the ones you want to concentrate on.
George W. Bush

You teach a child to read, and he or her will be able to pass a literacy test.
George W. Bush

"And there is distrust in Washington. I am surprised, frankly, at the amount of distrust that exists in this town. And I'm sorry it's the case, and I'll work hard to try to elevate it." --George W. Bush, interview on National Public Radio, Jan. 29, 2007

I often wonder if he is really this dumb (I tend to think yes) or if he is a mastermind of some sort, so clever that he is hiding his genius behind a facade of stupidity. Somehow things always seem to work out for him.

I almost choked reading what he said about the executive branch's job being to interpret law. So I guess the judicial branch's job is to agree with his interpretation? And of course, which branch's job would be the administration of those pesky laws written by the legislature, hmmmm? Gosh, those signing statements sure to come in handy there.

I think he really has this garbled, bumbling, semi illiterate thought process. Ther eis no doubt in my mind he is the puppet, Cheney & Rove the masterminds. Bush's handlers told him what to do & say & how to say it. He has difficulty writing something someone wrote for him & does worse trying to ad lib.
I have always seen that same befuddled/disturbed look on the faces of live audiences when he is speaking. A kind of What the hell is he saying? expression.
Bush was elected through the family name, silver spoon, good ol boy network. Get the boy in office & we will handle the profit details later.

I was writing earlier about how I'm not big on campaign promises, because often they fall flat. Case in point-- G.W. Bush in 2000 promised to *Restore Integrity to the White House*.
Has a campaign promise ever fatally failed so horrifically?
